Green & Blue: A Coastal Celebration

Green & Blue: A Coastal Celebration, is our biggest fundraiser of the year, taking place in the beautiful gardens at Rancho La Patera & Stow House in Goleta, CA. Each year, this event brings together around 600 guests from across the tri-county region. At Green & Blue we celebrate the many accomplishments this organization has achieved over our years and help raise critical funds to ensure EDC remains strong to protect this region for those who love it now and those who will follow in our footsteps. Guests enjoy gourmet food from Duo Catering, local wine from The Ojai Vineyard, beer from Rincon Brewing, and unique and lively silent and live auctions. We will also present our 2026 Environmental Hero Award to Valerie Olson and our Next Gen Environmental Hero Award to UCSB’s Stop Sable Coalition. Past awardees include actress Jane Fonda, musician Jack Johnson, and Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, who are locally rooted, internationally recognized environmentalists.

2026 ENVIRONMENTAL HEROES

ENVIRONMENTAL HERO
VALERIE OLSON, MORE MESA PRESERVATION
For over 25 years, Valerie has worked tirelessly to protect the treasured sensitive habitats, scenic beauty, and recreational resources of More Mesa from harmful development. As President of the More Mesa Preservation Coalition, a long-time client of EDC, Valerie has monitored pending development threats, lobbied County Supervisors, and encouraged the County Planning and Development Department and Coastal Commission to fulfill their obligations to protect key resources and public access. She oversaw production of the award winning More Mesa Handbook, coordinated with EDC to turn back a proposal to open substantial areas of the Mesa to development, and led efforts to organize a two-day More Mesa Symposium at UCSB. Without Valerie’s leadership, More Mesa may already have been harmed by new development.
NEXT GEN ENVIRONMENTAL HERO
UCSB STOP SABLE COALITION
The Stop Sable Coalition is a group of passionate and informed student organizers dedicated to a grassroots campaign fighting to prevent the restart of Sable Offshore Corp.’s dangerous oil drilling and pipeline operations along the Gaviota Coast. Working through UCSB’s Environmental Affairs Board and alongside EDC and other community partners, the Coalition is executing a robust public outreach campaign to elevate the issue, mobilizing hundreds of students, and bringing youth voices to the frontlines of a critical environmental battle. Through relentless advocacy, the Stop Sable Coalition demonstrates the power of student mobilization in securing environmental justice.

BIG THANKS TO OUR EVENT SPONSORS
EDC acknowledges and thanks the Chumash and Tongva communities for sharing the original names of the Channel Islands, which we will use this year as the names of our sponsorship levels. We are using these names to acknowledge that the places we are working to protect are unceded Indigenous lands.
